Museum Mansio Sebatum
Het gebied van St. Lorenzen was al in de ijzertijd bewoond en ontwikkelde zich in de loop van de oudheid tot een belangrijk Romeins wegstation, dat de naam Mansio Sebatum droeg.
Wie meer wil weten over die tijd, de Saevatenstam, de bewoningsgeschiedenis van het Pustertal en de Romeinen in St. Lorenzen, kan sinds eind september 2011 naast het bestaande Antiquarium in het gemeentehuis terecht in het Mansio Sebatum Museum in het voormalige gemeentehuis op het dorpsplein.
Drie verdiepingen vol geschiedenis
Op drie verdiepingen worden bezoekers op een spannende reis naar het verleden gestuurd, toen het kleine marktstadje in het centrum van het Pustertal een rustplaats voor de Romeinen werd. Veel 2000 jaar oude artefacten die direct in St . Lorenzen en omgeving zijn gevonden, evenals multimedia en interactieve stations, illustreren de geschiedenis op een bijzondere manier.
Op de 1e verdieping leren bezoekers alles over de ijzertijd, het Keltische koninkrijk Noricum, de Saevatenstam en de Romeinse wegenbouw. De tentoonstelling op de 2e verdieping gaat over het leven en werken in Mansio Sebatum, terwijl op de 3e verdieping de Romeinse wereld van goden, begrafenisrituelen en volksgeloven wordt gepresenteerd.
Daarnaast biedt een archeologisch themapad de mogelijkheid om in de frisse lucht verder te zoeken naar aanwijzingen en opgravingen en getuigenissen van het verleden te bezoeken rond het dorp en op de Sonnenburger Kopf (waar ook kasteel Sonnenburg staat).
