Kasteel Wolfsthurn
Het mooiste kasteel van Tirol - zoals beschreven door historicus Joh. Nep. Tinkhauser (1828) - is opengesteld voor het publiek als jacht- en vismuseum. Het geeft inzicht in het leven van de adel en vooral in de jacht als onderdeel van de volkscultuur.
Kasteel Wolfsthurn troont op een heuvel boven Mareit, aan de ingang van de Ridnaun vallei. In de 18e eeuw kocht Franz Andrä von Sternbach het oude kasteel Wolfsthurn en bouwde er het barokke kasteelcomplex, dat vandaag de dag nog steeds in het bezit is van de familie.
Kasteel Wolfsthurn wordt vandaag de dag nog steeds beschouwd als een prachtig voorbeeld van barokke architectuur. Het is een bijzonder levendige illustratie van het enthousiasme voor getallenkraken in die tijd. Van het kasteel bij Vipiteno wordt gezegd dat het 365 ramen, 52 deuren, 12 open haarden en vier portalen heeft. Ze staan voor het jaar met zijn kalenderdagen, weken, maanden en seizoenen.
Zuid-Tirol Museum van Jacht en Visserij
Sinds 1996 is in het kasteel onder andere het Zuid-Tiroolse Regionale Museum van Jacht en Visserij gevestigd. De tentoonstellingszalen zijn verdeeld over drie verdiepingen en behandelen verschillende thema's.
De eerste verdieping biedt bezoekers een schat aan informatie over jagen en vissen vanuit een cultureel en historisch perspectief. Naast tamme jachtdieren spelen volkskunst en voorwerpen die voor de jacht werden gebruikt een grote rol.
De 2e verdieping behandelt de geschiedenis van kasteel Wolfsthurn. De rondleiding geeft een goede indruk van het leven van de adel in de 18e en 19e eeuw. De staatsievertrekken van het kasteel zijn indrukwekkend en rijkelijk ingericht met origineel meubilair uit verschillende periodes, wandtapijten, kunstig beschilderd stoffen behang, kroonluchters, familieportretten, beschilderde rococokachels en pastelkleurig stucwerk.
De begane grond is speciaal ontworpen voor jongere museumbezoekers. In drie kamers kunnen ze op speelse wijze de lokale dierenwereld ontdekken.
